The conventions of unconvention…

I wish we could
Love when we wanted
And leave when not

I wish we could
Stop in that moment
And rewind and relive the smiles,
And bypass the frowns

I wish it were easy
To fall in love every day
Yet never be bound
To stay
And see it grow and wither away

I wish it was simple
To mend broken hearts
With something more than time

I wish the world stayed
A little at par
With the words I wrote
And those that scar

I wish we could be
Different people different days
Not bound by assumptions
And expectations
and futile predictions

I wish that we could
Just wake up every morning
And feel the vibes of the heart
What it tells us to be
What it throws in our path

But mostly I wish
That I could tell
Or scribble on the walls
That I’m all this
And much more
Away from the cliches
Of conventional souls
Fitting in…
…by staying out.
